Dr. Elijah Chirwa is a distinguished professional with over 24 years of experience at the central bank. His expertise spans strategic management, risk management, cybersecurity governance, and digital innovation. As a member of the Technical Committee on Central Bank Digital Currency, he plays a crucial role in the strategic planning and risk management of CBDC adoption and implementation. His role involves navigating the complex intersection of digital innovation, risk management and cybersecurity in supporting the bank's strategic objectives. He holds a PhD in Digital Innovation from the University of Sheffield (UK), an MSc from University of Derby, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Malawi.
