- Biography
- Helaway Tadesse is a Senior Macroeconomic Advisor to the Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia. He is currently on secondment leave from Cepheus Capital, an Ethiopia-focused private equity fund where he has been a Director in the investment and research teams since 2017. From 2009 to 2016, he served as the Senior Vice President of Zemen Bank, a private Ethiopian bank. Previously, Helaway spent a decade at the International Monetary Fund, where he was a Senior Economist based in Washington DC. Prior to the IMF, he held short-term research positions at several institutions, including the Economist Intelligence Unit and the Centre for the Study of African Economies at Oxford University. Helaway is a graduate of Princeton University (MPA, Economics & Public Policy) and Reed College (BA, Economics).
