Biography
Mr Otsile Moduka is a CFA Charter holder, with over ten years of experience in the financial services industry, particularly dealing with valuation of financial assets such as equities, bonds and foreign exchange. He holds a master’s degree in Finance and Investment from the University of Exeter, UK. Presently he works for the Bank of Botswana in the Financial Markets Department, as Chief Dealer in the International Dealing and Strategy Unit. Mr Moduka is responsible for overseeing a team that manages a global fixed income portfolio, which is the internally managed portion of the country’s foreign exchange reserves. He is mainly tasked with carrying out investment research and advising the Investment Committee on tactical portfolio positioning in consonance with the broader strategy. In addition, he is responsible for developing the Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) of the reserves at a broader level and ensuring the most optimal implementation of the strategy. In discharging his mandate, Mr Moduka regularly interacts with external fund managers, for both equities and bonds, and gets varied insights on the different investment philosophies. Outside reserves management, Mr Moduka has worked in the financial advisory industry in South Africa for a period of two years including working for the European Investment Bank (EIB) based in Pretoria. He held the position of Business Analyst, responsible for analysing financial and economic viability of projects within the SADC region.
