Biography

Ntseliseng Qopana, CFA, is a seasoned investment professional with over a decade of expertise in financial markets and portfolio management. She currently serves as a Senior Portfolio Manager at the Central Bank of Lesotho, where she oversees the management of the country’s foreign reserves within the Department of Financial Markets. Since joining the Central Bank in 2019, Ms. Qopana has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in Fixed Income, Money Markets, Forex portfolio management, as well as credit and macroeconomic analysis. In her tenure at the Central Bank, Ms. Qopana has been instrumental in driving innovation and enhancing portfolio performance. She spearheaded the introduction of structured products, such as bond repacks and FX-linked notes, as part of a yield-enhancing strategy during the low-yield environment caused by global central bank interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she played a pivotal role in the adoption of the FX Global Code, ensuring the Bank aligns with international best practices in foreign exchange markets. Prior to her role at the Central Bank, Ms. Qopana gained valuable experience across various sectors of the financial industry. She worked as a Research Analyst at Redemption Capital and as a Real Estate Analyst at Meago Asset Managers. Earlier in her career, she served as an Electrical Engineer Aide at the Lesotho Electricity Company for two years before transitioning into the investment field. Ms. Qopana’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and Statistics and a Bachelor of Honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management, both from the University of Cape Town. She further advanced her expertise by earning a Master’s degree in Finance and Investment from the University of Witwatersrand. Currently, she is pursuing the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification. With her extensive experience, innovative mindset, and commitment to professional excellence, Ntseliseng Qopana continues to make significant contributions to the financial sector, both in Lesotho and beyond.
